MULTIVERSE FOOD DRIVES

Since its inception, the Multiverse has always been a community of nerds celebrating shared interests and helping each other out. We strive to support that community in any way we can. The winter holiday season is rapidly approaching and we have found two terrific opportunities to help.

Western Hills High School is located on the west side of Fort Worth. While some of their students do benefit from a free lunch program, that only really benefits them while they are in session. The winter break sees them out of school for 10 DAYS (not including weekends). When families budget for food and count on their children eating lunch at school, the extra expense can create added stress during a time where funds are already being stretched.

To help theses families the school is putting together “CHRISTMAS BAGS” to send home with the students to make sure they have food during this break. These are the food items they’d like to supply with each Christmas Bag:

  • Canned tuna
  • Canned chicken breast
  • Canned pasta
  • Canned soup
  • Can chili
  • Can of beans (any kind)
  • Can of corn or green beans (almost complete)
  • Ready rice (microwave rice)
  • Instant potatoes
  • Canned mandarin oranges
  • Mac and cheese cups
  • Ramen noodle cups (almost complete)
  • Ramen noodle squares
  • Pop tarts
  • Jelly (plastic, please!)
  • Pasta sides
  • Granola bars
  • Peanut butter (complete)

Many of these items can be purchased from Dollar Tree for only $1.00. Their goal is 350 bags to make sure all of the students benefiting from the program are covered. You can visit their website www.WHHSCougarPrideFoundation.org to track their progress. Items may be dropped off either at The Multiverse or at Western Hills High School. Their address is 3600 Boston Avenue, Benbrook, TX 76116.

The second drive is for Center of Hope’s Christmas Food Basket program. They support families in need in Parker County. As with WHHS, they are primarily looking for dry goods. They’d also like to buy hams for the families, but due to the perishable nature of them, they’d like money or gift cards that will specifically be used to buy hams. Here’s their list:

  • Ham (Money/Gift Cards)
  • Sweet Potatoes – Can
  • Stuffing – Box or Bag
  • Broth – Can or Box
  • Potatoes – Instant
  • Bisquick Baking Mix
  • Gravy Mix – Bag
  • Fried Onion Strings
  • Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • Cranberry Sauce – Can
  • Bottled Syrup (Plastic)
  • Cake Mix – Box
  • Frosting – Can
  • Pie Filling
  • Fruit – Can

You can drop these items at The Multiverse or the Center of Hope Drop-Off Location. Their address is 629 Palo Pinto HWY, Weatherford, TX, 76086.

Our store is capable of receiving cash/card donations at the shop as well. Cash and Gift Cards will be secured for transfer, while debit/credit card donations can be run through our POS as a CHARITY DONATION transaction that will be pulled daily for transfer.
